Speaker:
The speaker of the selection is David Sedaris.
Occasion:
The time and place of the piece is Paris and is when he is forty-one years old. What made him write this would be his desire to let his audience know what he went through and how it helped him.
Audience:
His audience would be the people that are trying to learn a new language.
Purpose:
I believe that David's Sedaris reason for writing "Me Talk Pretty One Day" is to encourage other people that want to learn another language and are too afraid to try.
Subject:
The subject of this selection would be how he learned how to speak french.
Tone:
When the story began the author was feeling unsure and scared. He lacked the confidence that other students in the class had. He didn't think that his vocabulary was enough. As he was going through the class he began to feel frustrated because of the teaching methods of his teacher. It was only towards the end of the story that he realized that he could understand what the teacher was telling him. He was elated.
"Me talk pretty one day" was a really good story didn't you think so? I loved it! Also your SOAPTone is really good and detailed just how Mr. Urban would of liked it! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteOkay so I'm jealous that your SOAPSTone is way better than mine! You really got all of what the author was trying to make the reader get. For instance, when you said, "to encourage other people that want to learn another language and are too afraid to try," I thought, 'oooohhhhhh I get it, how did I not notice that purpose before.' You gave full out answers, and I appreciate that. This narrative was really funny and entertaining, do you agree?
