Reading Images page 95

1. The five panels above tell part of a story of a conflict between Spider-Man and his enemy The Vulture. List the events depicted in the panels in the order shown.
Answer: 1. The Vulture is leaving from a building to carry out step two in his evil plan.
              2. Spider-man has fallen into a tank of cold water.
              3. Spider-man tries to use his web to get out of the the tank, but it is impossible because he forgot to refill the ejector.
              4. Spider-man tries to climb out, but it is too slippery for him to climb out.
              5. Spider-man is trying to think of a way to get out of the tank. He comes up with an idea.

2.  What visual elements link each panel to the one that follows? Can you identify any verbal transitions? What additional transitional words and phrases might help to move readers from one panel to the next?
Answer: For me I don't see any images in the panels that link them together. The transitions that I see are something else, afloat here much longer, and I can get out of here. Other transitional words or phrases that can help readers are I'll either drown or suffocate in here, and the ejector is empty.

3. What do you think happened before the events depicted here? What do you suppose will happen next?
Answer: I think that in the panels before, The Vulture somehow trapped Spider-Man and through him into the cold water filled tank. After I think that Spider-Man will escape and he will catch The Vulture. The End!

Journal Entry:
The Vulture flying through the city of New York was feeling exceptionally good about himself. He has just threw Spider-Man into a tank filled with icy cold water. Now The Vulture could finally carry out the second step of his evil plan. On the other side of the tracks was Spider-Man getting over the shock of hitting the cold water. After overcoming the shock of the water he tried to use his web to escape, but Spider-Man's ejector was empty. He had forgotten to refill it. Then he tries to climb by gripping the walls, but the walls are far too slippery for him to climb. Spider-Man knows that if he doesn't do something to safe himself soon he could end up dead. Finally he comes up with an idea that helps him escape and defeat The Vulture.
